Fair
Wings is a Non Profit Organisation created to encourage
the development of responsible tourism, initially in Nepal,
and now more generally in tourism destinations. Since Fair
Wings’ founders did not end up working for the association
but for other organizations, the achievements have been very
modest compared to initially planed.
Fair Wings is therefore dedicated to the
promotion of responsible tourism in destinations where its
members have either travelled and/or worked. The presentation
of the destination’s commitments towards responsible
tourism aim to give visibility to the initiatives taking place
and allows tour operators, project developers, NGOs and travellers
to have a better understanding of the country.
So far, Fair Wings presents three destinations of South Asia
officially hosting world’s
biodiversity hotspots – kerala, Sri Lanka and Nepal
- as well as the most visited country in the world - France.
Based on Fair Wings member’s experience
of the responsible tourism scene in destinations, particularly
in South Asia, a strong need for a better understanding of
the visitors’ expectations and the outbound market has
been identified. Fair Wings has consequently presented on
its website a document about the marketing
of ecotourism products, prepared for the Prithvi seminar
on eco-friendly products.
Now established
in France, Fair Wings’ founders will seek to develop
responsible tourism projects according to their availability.
